Acupuncture in Coralville
The ancient practice of Chinese therapy called Acupuncture uses needles (or lasers, magnets, and electric pulses) placed along 12 invisible channels, known as meridians that run throughout the body, to unblock and release the body’s vital energy or “qi”. With the release of qi, the body can begin healing itself to improve its functions.
When your body’s balance is disrupted, you are likely to feel sick or have pain. Acupuncture allows your vital energy to flow freely throughout your body via meridians, alleviating pain and restoring your natural balance so you can feel strong and healthy again.
Dr. Brady Bird
Dr. Brady Bird is a licensed chiropractor with certification in acupuncture and meridian therapy. He is driven to help his fellow community members understand that each decision they make in their day-to-day lives affects the health and happiness of themselves and those around them. As a team member at Total Health ChiropracTIC, Dr. Bird is happy to have the ability to reach as many people as possible through chiropractic care and acupuncture, and he can pass along the necessary tools to help make the best health and lifestyle decisions.
Dr. Bird grew up in Emmetsburg, Iowa. As a high school athlete with low back issues following an injury during a basketball game, chiropractic care became a significant part of his life at an early age. With his uncle’s chiropractic clinic only two blocks from his house, Dr. Bird became a chiropractic patient and fell in love with the profession. Having the opportunity to watch the people he had grown up around transform their lives by making the decision to seek out a healthier form of health care was all it took for him to choose chiropractic as his future.
After attending the University of Iowa, Dr. Bird completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic from the Northwestern College of Chiropractic at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota. During his time at Northwestern, he was an active member of a performance athletic student organization focused on improved performance in lifestyle sports such as running and cycling, and he served on the Northwestern Health Sciences University Student Senate for one year before being elected as the Parliamentarian in the Student Senate cabinet.
Following graduation from Northwestern, Dr. Bird’s interest in acupuncture led him to earn his certification in Meridian Therapy and Acupuncture through the Cleveland College of Chiropractic in Kansas City. He had received acupuncture treatments as an adjunct to Chiropractic care while in school at Northwestern and was impressed by the results he saw with this combination. He and Dr. Hammes’ team believe that the balance provided by adding acupuncture to the incredible list of services offered at Total Health ChiropracTIC will allow them to better serve their patients and their community.
Dr. Bird’s passion for serving his community extends beyond the chiropractic office. He has spent significant time serving with young professional organizations in the Des Moines and the Iowa City areas. While practicing in Emmetsburg, Dr. Bird was a founding member of FUEL Emmetsburg, which focused on engaging future community leaders, and he held a seat on the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He is looking forward to becoming more active in the Coralville, North Liberty, and Iowa City communities as a member of Total Health ChiropracTIC. Dr. Bird and his wife Nerissa enjoy spending as much time together as possible with their dog Teddy, preferably outside cycling, boating, golfing, and grilling.
I went to Dr Dillon in search of relief from the constant headaches I’ve had over the years, I had been to a chiropractor many times before but thought maybe it was time to see if someone else could make a difference. Dr. Dillon was able to adjust my neck in a way that provided almost instant relief from the headache. He was also able to show me exercises that I could do to help strengthen my neck to prevent having the headaches in the future. He was able to point towards the jaw pain I have been having for years as an additional cause of the headaches and adjusted that as well. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in giving tips on how to help prevent the pain in the future. He’s not too bad to look at either;)
